At TechMen IT Services, we are committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our customers and visitors to our web site. In particular, we want you to know that TechMen does not purchase, sell, rent or trade information for any purpose. We just don’t do that sort of thing. Our mission is to provide cost-effective support and services with reliable quality, quick lead-time and good after-sale service to our customers. In this Privacy Policy, we’ve provided lots of detailed information on when and why we collect your personal information and how we use it. As always, if you have any questions, please get in touch.

Like most websites, TechMen.co.uk uses cookies and ‘Google Analytics’, to collect information. Cookies are small data files which are placed on your computer or other devices (such as smart ‘phones or ‘tablets’) as you browse this website.  They are used to ‘remember’ when your computer or device accesses our websites.

 

                Why you are collecting them?

We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

 

                What information do cookies store?

Our cookies collect information about browsing behaviour when you access this website via the same computer or device.  This includes information about pages viewed and your journey around our website.  We do not use cookies to collect or record information on your name, address or other contact details.

 

Personal Data

The protection of our customer’s personal or business data is a matter of importance for TechMen IT Services. We ensure that all its engineers observe the standards of the Data Protection Act and act in accordance with the regulations contained therein.

 

                Why we collect personal data?

We collect information to process the repair, service or consultation you have requested. We keep some of this information to provide our after-sales service.

 

                 How long do we keep your data?

Customer’s personal contact details, handover documentation and the details of transactions with TechMen IT Services will be kept for a minimum of 6 months. If TechMen IT Services has no further communication with you following the service it will be removed after 12 months. If further communication is made, this will renew the 12 month period for all information we hold. Our policy does not affect your individual rights as outlined by GDPR.

 

                 How do we keep your data secure?

Personal data contained on, or transferred from, PCs, terminals, hard drives or disks shall, at all times, be processed fairly and lawfully and anonymised with the exception of a customer’s personal contact details, handover documentation and the details of transactions with TechMen IT Services, all other data, however sourced and necessarily held on our computers or external hard drives or disks during the execution of the works, shall be deleted, using a secure format on completion of the works. Retained data is kept on an encrypted centralised storage solution secured with a password and two factor authentication, this means your data is only accessible if you know the password and have an engineer’s mobile phone (with pin).

 

                 Is my personal data shared?

TechMen IT Services does not purchase, sell, rent or trade information for any purpose. You may ask us to provide your information to third party entity’s, please see below for more information.

Sometimes TechMen IT Services may need to communicate with third parties on your behalf. We are happy to request third party privacy policies for your review before we share any information about you or your business.

 

We will always ask for permission before proceeding to interact with third parties where we are unable to anonymise your information.

 

In cases where multiple third parties are involved, each party will require its own permission ‘set’ - so sorry if we get repetitive!

In no event will TechMen IT Services be liable for any damage to the laptop/desktop, loss of data, loss of revenue or profits, or any special, incidental, contingent, or consequential damages, however caused, before, during or after service even if TechMen IT Services has been advised of the possibility of damages or loss to persons or property. TechMen IT Services liability of any kind with respect to the services, including any negligence on its part, shall be limited to the contract price for the services.

The client and TechMen IT Services agree that the sole and exclusive remedy for unsatisfactory work or data shall be, at TechMen IT Services option, additional attempts by TechMen IT Services to complete required work, recover satisfactory data or refund of the amount paid by the client (limited to the contract price for the services).

The client is aware of the inherent risks of injury and property damage involved in laptop/desktop repair, including without limitation, risks due to destruction or damage to the machine, media, or data and inability to repair the machine or recover data, including those that may result from the negligence of TechMen IT Services, and assumes any and all known risks of injury and property damage that may results. TechMen IT Services shall not be liable for any claims regarding the physical functioning of equipment/media or the condition or existence of data on storage media supplied before, during or after service.

All parties acknowledge that the price of TechMen IT Services would be much greater if TechMen IT Services undertook more extensive liability.

No Fix No Fee

No Fix No Fee

Is the result of a diagnoses or service in which TechMen IT Services does not possess the necessary technical knowledge or ability to resolve the problem or effect the repair, then no charge is made. Exclusions to the No-Fix-No-Fee policy, where a charge will still apply are, not limited to, when the customer requests TechMen IT Services not to proceed with a repair which it is able to effect, When TechMen IT Services is able to resolve the problem or effect the repair, but the customer does not possess the required software disc or product key. If the computer’s Operating System is to be re-installed, the customer must provide TechMen IT Services with an original licensed Operating System disc and a valid Product Key. When TechMen IT Services provides a clear and precise diagnosis of a failed component but the customer decides not to proceed with the replacement.

Computer Wipe / Restore

TechMen IT Services will attempt all means of repair, it may sometimes be necessary to re-format the computer’s internal hard drive(s) and/or to re-install the Microsoft Windows operating system (or similar). Re-formatting of the hard drive(s) means that all data will have been erased. Both these procedures are carried out only as a last resort and after you have been contacted.

All data, regarded by the customer as either required, important and/or critical, should be backed up (saved to another hard drive or to removable media) prior to any such re-installation of software such as Microsoft Windows, or the re-formatting of your computer’s internal hard disc drive(s). The computer will have been returned to “Factory Settings” after re-installing Microsoft Windows. Software that cannot be backed up will require original install media (such as installation disks) or download keys (such as store voucher or emailed token) and will need to be provided by the customer. This will be discussed before proceeding.

The client is aware of the inherent risks of data loss which can happen for a number of reasons, not limited to, problems affecting the computer’s internal or external hard disc drive(s), by a virus or spyware infection, corruption of data files and/or folders. Due to the risk associated with the above, I refer you back to our limited liability (1). The only effective safeguard against the risks associated with loss of data is to maintain a regular and systematic backup procedure. TechMen IT Services engineer will be pleased to advise on this.

 

 

Payment

Payment

Payment is due in full upon completion of successful service, prior to release of the repaired machine or finished product of service.
